Today our Guatemala OneSight clinic team "met" for the first time on a conference call. There are 35 of us -- some veterans of OneSight clinics, and many of us "newbies". I don't think we had any of our European team members (UK, Spain, Italy) on this call, so it will be great to meet them too.
Our leaders, Scott, Terrence, Dr. Dave, Stephanie and Sharon, as well as the clinic veterans, shared a lot of great tips and ideas, and made it clear that we are in great hands. Thanks guys!
We also learned that we will have incredible support from the local Lions club and Peace Corps members in Santa Cruz del Quiche so that we can effectively serve nearly 15,000 people during our two-week clinic.
So, in just one short month, Team Guatemala will finally get to meet each other in person when we convene at the airport in Houston to fly to Guatemala. It's sure to be fun! (Note to the team -- wear your OneSight gear so we know you!)
Stay tuned to this blog for the countdown to our clinic. In the meantime, please check out the link to our team fundraising page if you'd like to support our team. You can also help by donating your gently used prescription eyeglasses (men's, women's and children's) and non-prescription sunglasses to OneSight. For more information visit http://www.onesight.org/.
We are Team Guatemala! We can't wait to begin giving the gift of sight and sharing our stories and photos from the clinic.
